Thumbs down even more shipping charges!

Has anyone else had an e mail from the quarantine people regarding your shipping container, we have had an email yesterday saying the outside of our container which has just passed through quarantine is dirty. They now want us to pay $220 to have it jet washed other wise they will not release our goods.

This is on top of all the other charges you have to pay to have the goods inspected.

$970.00 was the first request for import charges and $458.70 yesterday for customs disbursement charges. No idea what this is for but have to pay it anyway.
We paid £15.00 into a collective pot to avoid paying for the container to be cleaned so at least we avoid that cost aswell.

The more I read about the container costs and charges the more I question is it worth it. Can I buy all the essentials in Australia for less and just send boxes? Having sleepless nights pondering this question already

Dont worry about it honestly. Just make sure you get a quote that includes EVERYTHING!!!!!! The only company we found did that was Crown altho if you ask other companies they will send you a revised quote. Crown did it right from the start so we used them The only thing Crown dont quote & include is the charges if they find anything they need to destroy or spray..... So just make sure everything is clean

The whole thing is a pain, but a necessary pain.. I have moved all my stuff over (we did the whole shipping thing ourselves as we had our stuff in storgage for a year) but now i have all my bits and pieces in Australia I love it.. also I found that the things that I owned I couldnt replace and that I just preferred my own stuff.

We didnt have many breakages and no hassles with customs.. suppose it is just luck of the drawer at the end of the day..

We had a quote for shipping from John Mason last week and didn't believe the story we were told about the £15. It seemed too far fetched but we were obviously wrong!!
