Hi, in Australia, is it OK to do the school run in your gym clothes? Just checking before I do the school run next Tuesday .

Of course it's ok! Probably about the only thing you can't wear is nothing

But is it the done thing? This is a prep school in the Northern Suburbs. Not sure if that makes any difference. Don't want to show the kids up on their first day .

Yup. same up here on the Central Coast, people drop kids off at school in their pyjamas with or without a bath robe, bare feet and hair in knots. Disgraceful, but see it every day.

People can wear whatever they like, no idea what anyone else would even care.

It seems like every person under the age of about 50 wears gym clothes all the time at the weekend. It's like a uniform - shoppers, walkers, coffee drinkers et al - all out and about in their tight pants doing their weekend stuff. Doubt half of them have ever been near a gym or done a yoga class.

Dropping the kids off at a private school in your gym clothes? You'd fit in very nicely.

Don't forget the park sipping chai lattes with the other mums in their Lorna Jane uniforms.

Where I live, eastern subs of Sydney, the yummy mummies are always wandering around in hot pants. Not sure if they are off to the gym after school drop off, or doing coffee with the ladies, but its the done thing around here.

Disgraceful? Why? As long as the privates are covered up who the hell cares what people are wearing? I have honestly never understood this weird obsession (general, not you I don't think) people have with what other people, generally strangers, are wearing.

I'm just an old fashioned fogey with morals set back in dark ages. Don't mind me, I am just a grumpy old man and proud of it.
