Hiya,
we're coming over to Perth in a couple of weeks on our visa validation trip. I'm trying to compose a list of essential things to do whilst we're there. We have just over 2 weeks and so want to do all the essential stuff in prep for our real move, but also make a holiday of it and see some tourist stuff.
Any ideas welcome,
Cheers,
Chrisall

Cruise down the river to Freemantle and enjoy the views and the markets.
Walk through the park.
If you have little ones, go to the zoo.
Go and swim with the dolphins.
Go out to Rottnest island, cycle around, swim and see the wild quokkas.
Can't think of much else as we only holidayed there for a few days about 5 years ago.

Perth has limited tourist attractions usually one week will cover that side.
First post covers more or less the essentials.
If there is time get out of the metropolitan area and spend a few days South. Margaret River is the usual choice and worth seeing .

A trip to Freemantle and the prison is a decent day out.
Mandurah is a pretty sea side town a short train ride away and has a fun wildlife park where you can cuddle a koala and stroke a roo.
Penguin Island off Rockingham is a fun place - dependant on weather.
Do remember that we are comming into winter now and while there will be some sunny days, others will be cold and wet. Last Thursday reminded me very much of November in the UK.

Trying to think of essential stuff other than opening a bank account if you haven't already done so.

I should use the spell checker, but never do for non work things. I am moderate to severe dyslexic.

Hi and enjoy your visit....
We did this for a week nearly 2 years ago and this is what we did......
AQWA a nice aquarium at Hillarys.....also enjoy the outlook of the harbour
Yanchep national park for the Koalas
Kings Park and all the great views that has ect
Go to the beach sorry i dont quite agree Thursday saw rain for the first time in 65 days but it wasnt that bad
(31 Saturday again)
Agree with other destinations but take the time to do some of the 'boring stuff' like property and location research school reviews banks ac and see just how far apart broadly speaking 'Perth' sprawls.....
Congrats on a great city choice we havent looked back

Take the river ferry to Fremantle and head for the Little Creatures Brewery. I reckon it's one of the best pubs in Australia. Great food, great beer, great service and in a nice spot right on the water front.

Take a trip on th Spirit of the West, a 3½ hour train trip with a 5 course meal included. We did the Sunday afternoon one - not sure what the views would be like on Saturday evening.

Take a trip round the cities/towns of Vincent, Stirling, Fremantle etc, then take a trip to Joondalup and Rockingham and see the difference in places to live when you don't follow the hoardes of immigrants
