Default Employment in Darwin for a 18year old.

My 18 year old daughter is planning to move up to Darwin within the next few months and I thought id post a thread on here in the hope that someone can give us some idea about employment etc.... She has 2 yesrs experience of waitress and bar work and a current RSA certificate. She will be looking for a one bedroomed rental within close proximity to the Army base where her chap works, but can travel as she will buy a car when she arrives.
Someone has already mentioned rentals in Nightcliff being a favourite with Army personnel.
Just putting a few feelers out, if anyone can help id be greatful.

Palmerston is a hell of a lot closer to the camp than Nightcliff and does have a few bars for employment. May be better looking at Darwin city itself as it has more night life for the younger set and packed with bars and restaurants.

It is quite expensive to rent up here so i guess it all depends what your daughter can afford. There is a Facebook page called Darwin Real Estate For Sale Or Rent may be worth a look.

Good luck to your daughter xx

Well employment in Darwin looking really good. Daughter has had a couple of phone interviews and quite a few calls from the Casino and clubs. Problem is now she is having great difficulty getting a rental, as she has no rental history.... catch 22 situation. She has even told agents that she can put down 3 months rent, but its still proving difficult.... any suggestions folks?

Hi Angela

Glad you DD has got somewhere to live. There is a second hand shop in Winnellie on the Stuart Highway (about 10 minutes out of Darwin) and there are a couple of facebook pages that I know of that sell furniture. One is 'Buy, Sell and Swap in Darwin & Surrounding Areas' and the other is 'Darwin's Secondhand Furniture'. There are probably more. There are always notices up too in the shopping centres advertising furniture. Hope she can get herself sorted soon .
