Thanks for all the replies. I'm a bit of a numb skull though. I didn't realise that as skyward silver members we are entitled to 32kg anyway. The only other thing is i would like to take my road bike with me for exploring the local area when i first arrive and don't really want to wait for weeks to ship it emirates said it's something like £32 per kg on excess baggage. Any idea's.
Thanks again

NO NO NO.
I validated and got 20kg's.
When we emigrated on a way one ticket with Singapore airlines, we phoned them told them what we were doing and it was uplifted to 40kg...
thats your lot then, unless your a frequent flyer.

Just flew Emirates from Manchester to Sydney on Saturday with a claimed 55 kg between 2 of us and well overweight hand luggage - guy at MAN check-in never even raised an eyebrow at it. I think it was more liek 65 kg.
It was all our family stuff like baby books, family photos, china etc after the death of my father last week, so I had the death cert with with to try to claim some compassion if they moaned - but no problem at all.
And with Singapore Airlines last September when we came on 457, I managed to get 80 kg over 4 bags between the two of us, by giving a bit of a smile and chat to the check-in guy.
But then you can always get the odd cow who wants to weigh everything...

I do know that on occassions passengers have been off loaded for extra very lucrative cargo instead - so please don't push your luck!
Happy travels.
