Sorry if I'm being dumb here - what is it you want the insurance to cover?? The shipped goods should have insurance, you should be able to take out insurance on the actual 24hour trip for yourself, then house insurance etc when you get there?????

Just did a search on Altavista and this site was the first that came up. They have a link to 'single trip insurance', which I'm sure will cover it.

If it's just for the actual travelling then try www.insureandgo.co.uk but you will probably need to phone them. They will cover you for a journey which includes stopovers, no time limits. I tried several companies and these are the cheapest and least restrictive.
If it's for possessions after house contents insurance has ended then www.johnwason.co.uk do an expats' package. They are very helpful.

hi, we are not taking any furniture with us. Just us and our baggage. The insurance companies i have spoken to will only insure us if we return back to a UK address. This is what they told me anyho. Of course i am probably talking to the wrong companies.

I'll check those links out first thing in the morning. Muchos thanks for those replies.

Hiya

I found it cheaper to take out an annual family policy, which covers you for multi stays of up to 45 days......by which time we will have medical insurance in Oz sorted out
