electrical equipment
Sorry this thread has probably been done before but we are emigrating to Perth in April hopefully (just had our medicals). We are thinking of buying a panasonic recordable dvd player, which, after being on a few websites is an awful lot cheaper to buy in England than Australia. So does anybody know if a recordable dvd player (it will be multi region) will work in Australia with an Australian tv set?
Thanks

But make sure u check .....
Yes it should work as my friend has just advised. But make sure that the extended warranty on that gadget of yours (if u have got any) is valid in Australia. Also look for any fine prints/exclusions as far as country/zone is concerned!!
Cheers!

Re: electrical equipment
www.techtronics.com have a lot of information about making DVDs multi-region. Basically they say that making them 'region-less' through the remote control or firmware changes cannot be trusted and that you may still have problems with newer films.
For true multi-region DVD, they will chip the player. This will cost up to £100 but if you haven't bought your player already, they sell ready-chipped players for quite resonable prices. In my case, I may as well give my DVD player to my mum and buy a chipped one.
