( usually marked with a square within a square ) then i wouldnt use one
why steve??
because if there should be a problem,
the circuit cannot de energise as the earth in effect is disconnected,
so in the event of an earth fault any the body / chassis that was made of metal could become live,
not good

You can get 3 pin adaptors, but most common are just 2 pin.

Stev'o is right when he says the adaptors are crap, also very dangerous in my opinion, hell for a few dollars whats the problem in changing to the accepted standard within Australia don't forget you may be here for the rest of your life.???

I've noticed bunnings plugs arent very forgiving if you have a large cable (ie one that is 3core double insulated) like the ones you get on kettles, vacuums, dryers... Anyone know where i can get plugs that can accomodate larger cables?

mark213,
You may want to look at the current demand for the larger cables, if the appliance is drawing more than 10 amp then you will require a larger cable maybe 2.5mm orange flex also if your drawing more than 10 amp you will have to have a 15amp GPO (Power point) installed with a 15 amp plug top they have a larger earth pin & are also more robust.

When you say dont use adaptors do you mean the travel ones?
I have read on hear that the best thing to do is to take lots of extension leads and then just change the plug on that !
What do you think off that?
will this be ok to do, dont want to put us at risk for a few dollars as you rightly said.
