Default "Eldest Relative That has Visited You in Oz" Competition

I have actually stolen this thread idea from Buzzy Bee who mentioned in another post that his dad is over in Oz visiting him at the moment and is age 80.

Buzzy suggested we have a competition to see what the age is of the eldest relative to visit a BE member in Oz. I've started the thread cos I can print it out and show it to my mum (age only 60!) as inspiration!

So, guys, what is the age of the eldest relative to visit you?

Buzzy heard of one person whose last remaining relative emigrated to Oz at age 95!! No excuses anyone!

In Feb 06 my then 87 (almost 88) year old Grandad visited me from Lancashire. He is planning a visit next year too and he will be 90 in March.

errr 80. Oh you knew that

However Dad will be 81 while he is here.

His errrr.... companion..... will be visiting in the New Year too. We actually don't know how old she is but we reckon she's about 79. They've booked a coach trip down the Great Ocean Road. What amazes me is that she at 79(?) is only staying in Australia for 3 weeks!

Ok, my Dad is a youngster at only 76, but it was only a few months after finishing treatment for prostate cancer, and still suffering side effects from the treatment.
They are planning to come out again in a years time.

Not as old as some but FIL and MIL are coming for 4 weeks in March. He is 76 and recovering from bladder cancer (had his bladder, prostate and uretha removed) and she is 72 and just had a hip replacement.

My mum comes out to stay with us each year for a month in March (when things are cooler in Melbourne, but still nice and warm for her). She is 73 this year and has slowed down a lot over the last few years but it didn't stop her from going on a 30 minute microlight trip up to 2,000 metres when she was out his year :-)

Coming out here each year does her the world of good. It is a big trip and she does it on her own (gets wheelchair assistance at the airports which lessens the stress of travelling for her) but she admits that she always goes home feeling about 10 years younger.

My grandad isn't in the best of health but managed ok. Thankfully he could afford to fly business class and get VIP treatment from his home all the way to mine.

My Gran has been to visit us twice, she came last year to celebrate her 90th birthday last August! She has already booked to come in March next year for 3 months! She's had two new hips and gets round on a zimmer frame!

I can't believe how amazing all your relatives are! I'm full of admiration for them. Anybody who has relatives who are saying they are too old to travel to visit them must show them this thread!
Keep the posts coming.

I had a great aunt who played golf through her seventies and in her eighties was still jetting off to Austria & Florida a couple of times a year. She was an amazing old girl! I hope I can still be that active & alive when I get to that age.
