Education UK/Aus/Canada - Transition

Re: Education UK/Aus/Canada - Transition
my daughter is about to do the IB rather than the HSC (A-level equivalent) just in case she decides to go to a uni in another country. She is in a fee-paying school, but as numbers are small, didn't get all the choices she wanted.
If you are planning to move during her last two years of education, the IB might be more transferrable, but as an ex teacher I'd say try not to disrupt her education during that vital stage, so either come to Australia for the two years, or stay home, but see if she can do the IB where you are in case you have to move.

My 14 year old ( Grade 10 Queenaland ) is currently doing the IB. Its the prep year, the final two being grade 11 and 12.
We decided on this as we have a business visa application in for Canada. The wait seems to grow longer each year. It appears very few will be issued from OZ this year...... We wait
Hence the international education. However it has not travelled well between States in OZ, QLd to Victoria, in melb the course would cost $24,000 a year, in QLD its only $1500. Languages are different and the second language is not negotiable, they have to achieve that.
Anyway. The IB is not easy. Grade 11 and 12 they are saying dont get a part time job ( normal teen thing ) you wont have the time. 3 - 5 hours study a day on top of school.
My son was sitting exams a year above his age and getting top 2 - 3% of state. He likes the work but in all honesty I think the next two years will be test even for him. A LOT of kids drop out half way through grade 12 and many in grade 11.
Extreme stuff IMO.

Doesn't matter if it's crap or not. You're simply not allowed to have an opinion on this thread. You'll be reported or deported or something.
