reasonable close to the water. Has a train station (easy access to the city) One of the better suburbs up North.

If you have to live that far oop north, Edgewater's probably about as good as it gets (I'm biased btw as we couldn't stand being so far out of the city). We've moved closer to town but the only thing I miss is the really good neighbours & sense of community you get out there. Nice, older (about 35 years in the oldest parts) suburb, well established, lots of greenery & close to Joondalup, Wanneroo and trains. Really recommend it if you've got a family.

ask Perthine, she lives there for the last 4 years.

In my opinion, Edgewater it definately a suburb I would consider. It has a train station, not far from Joondalup shopping and university. It is an older, green and hilly suburb, lots of trees, low crime rate. Some areas in Edgewater have stunning views over the lake.

I live in Edgewater . Easy access to Train station & Freeway & shops (if that's your thing ) . Perth in non rush is 25mins , rush takes maybe another 20 mins drive .
No busy through road . Plenty of greenery & parks & we have a great view out the back . The lake is a very nice place to be with lots of wildlife ( Roo's hang out there ) & cycle paths .
Shops in Joondalup are easy to get to without having to look at them all the time .
Downside , you may get a few mozzies from the lake .... but hey there always has to be a compromise .

Edgewater is an approx 30 year old established suburb, one of the few left with big trees and lots of greenery around. Nestled on the western shores of Lake Joondalup and the Yellagonga Regional Reserve, displaying serene wetlands with a lot of wildlife, many birds such as Parrots, Cockatoos, Kookaburras etc and of course Kangaroos. It has got a small shopping centre with an IGA, liquor store, veggie shop, hairdresser, a cafe/restaurant and a small deli/bakery type of shop. Some streets in the middle of Edgewater are elevated so you can have panoramic water views and over the whole area up to to other side of the lake to Wanneroo and to Joondalup. From the Ocean View Rd you even have some views of the ocean which is only 5min away (by car) and from another street you can even see the CBD towers. Having the Edgewater train station close by, depending in which part of Edgewater you live in, it could be in easy walking distance, is quite convenient. It's a good family suburbs as well and it seems that people here rarely move out.
