Yes bring it over, most films in UK and Oz are dual coded to region 2 + 4, they don't advertise this on the DVD boxes but most will work, if you want to buy a film here in Oz why not rent the film first from Blockbuster or Video Ezy to see if it will work in your DVD player....

Bring it, we brought our DVD player and it works perfectly. It's a multi region one so plays Aussie dvds as well which is a bonus.

That's funny because a lot of the DVD's I've rented here in Australia never worked on my region-locked DVD drive in my old UK PC?

Is it region-locked? I remember Amazon.co.uk selling region-free Sony DVD (DSP-50) players a few years ago (unfortunately, it was a bit hit and miss as the supplier had not unlocked all of them - mine was locked and I unlocked it using a key-sequence via a magic-controller).

If it is already unlocked then there is no reason not to bring it.

However, the way forward is to get a wireless router in your home, encode your films to XviD format and then use a media-extender to simply stream movies from your PC to your TV screen. Much more convenient than swapping discs in and out.
