Dust !!

Sydney and at least as far down as 100k South of it have an interesting start to the day to day.... the world is Orange.

Everything is coated in sand from the interior.

Freaky sky

Woke up this morning and the sky was freaky I mean really freaky. Bright orange like something was on fire. I ran upstairs and onto the balcony and my neighbours were out too and I said what the hell is it. They told me it was a dust storm. I have taken some photos but its hard to see the real ambiance.

Yes, I took this just before six this morning - the colours are exactly like the photo.

I can taste the dust inside the house, despite sealed double glazing. I cleaned the patio yesterday - serves me right <g>.

Hell yes. The cats are very spooked and woke us up early; we thought the world had ended.

I can smell it and taste it. (Not a good time to have a totally knackered autoimmune system.)

Is it a dust strorm rolling in or bushfire:eek:

Up here in SEqld I walked the dogs at 5.30 am, the wind is severe gusts and the wind was already hot, think we were predicted to get dust roll in this afternoon too:thumbdown:

It's dust and apparently very unusual for NSW. Very windy.

Maybe the two (at least!) threads can be merged?

Just posted on another thread but it's very bad in the city itself. I can smell and taste it too, although our house is far from sealed.

Just wondering if it's worth getting ready for work or not  Busy day planned.

I wouldn't be going anywhere today if I can avoid it, particularly if you have any health issues. It might not look so spectacular now the sun is up, but there is just as much dust in the air.

Sydney turns blood red: dust storm blankets city!
http://www.smh.com.au/environment/sy...0923-g0so.html

Its the dust brought in from the western deserts. Very strong winds expected down there throughout the day too.
