Default Driving in Queensland

Can anyone put me right.

I think I saw on a thread on here that when a person migrates from the UK to Australia they didn't have to take a touch screen test for changing their driving license over to a Oz one especially the Queensland area.

Reading on the Queensland Transport site it says you still have three months in which to take the test to change your licence.

Can someone please clarify this.

Thanks

Caz

Hi Caz
I have just been to Queensland and we have just changed our licence over to Queensland driving licence and you do not have to take a test out there. If you need to know anything else PM me

we had to take a multiple choice (Qld written test) to chage ours over in 2005, but you do have 3 months driving on a full UK drivers licence.

Touch screen ? You overestimate Queensland Transport. The theory test was pencil, paper and laminated and slightly dog eared tests.

Ah well - at least you dont have to take it now. Personally I think it was character building to have failed it at least once.....like me

Still wouldn't hurt to read the book to familiarise yourself with the different rules/signs etc though, just like I had to before I went to the UK.

Go to your local Queensland Transport office. You dont need an appointment, its a take a ticket type queue. They will do the photo there and then also.

You will however need to take certain ID with you - and make sure that you have everything.

Check the website for the details of the local office and whats acceptable as ID.
