For NSW look here...
RTA
for other states check out their version of the RTA...
But not for cars, although there may be restrictions depending upon how long you've held your licence. HGV drivers will need to retest...

I agree, the driving over here is some what different to the Uk, and at first it drove me mad, however, when you come to terms with it its ok, you just have to think like a OZ'Y and not a Brit. The main concerns i have about the driving here is not speed, as 90% of the traffic goes the same speed any way, and in any lane, its the morrons who drive too close, and thats about 70% of the drivers on the road, leave a safe braking gap in front of you, and Mr oz'y see's that as a gap he can dive in, this logic i have still to work out, as you will see them ducking and diving in and out of space, with little or no room to brake, and yet 5mins later you will drive past them, so they have gained nothing.
Also be warned, they cant drive in the rain..........

Not enough experience
But also a word of warning on this... after a long dry spell, a little rain can make the roads very dangerous.

During a dry period, engine oil and grease build up on the road over time. When mixed with water from a new rainfall, the road becomes extremely slick. Continued rainfall will eventually wash away the oil, but the first few hours can be the most dangerous.

Yep thats very true, slight bit of rain and the road becomes a skid pan... take care, or live in the bush with a nice big 4WD No worries!!!!

Hi, I found the driving in Oz to be no different than here (Ireland). I didn't see any mad drivers or rudiness that people seem to talk about.

One on one merging in heavy traffic is a delight.
Mind you, I still can't get used to trucks overtaking me in the outside lane..
