Ok disaster of the week.....
I failed my driving test
Tried to book another and they have no space till Feb
As we leave on the 4/12, it looks like i will need to do a full oz test rather than just the theory type.
So have any of you done this.....
Can any of you in Perth (Scarborough) recomend a driving school............................
I did not need this to deal with as well...darn it
Thanks

Hi HBgirl,
Did you ask the test centre about cancellations? If somebody else cancels their test, they could slot you in instead. My parents used to be driving instructors and they used to be able to get their pupils slotted in.

Hi Jane,
Yes, I know about cancelations but it means,
a) trying to get through to the booking line
b) getting one when my instructor is free
c) getting time of work
I am trying but not holding out hope for all 3 things to work together.
Fingers crossed though.

Oh well,
Good luck with your next test, wherever you take it. I've been driving 17 years now and I'm dreading having to take a test over there. Hopefully, it will just be a theory test though. Parallel parking wasn't part of the test when I took it!

You can download the Road Users handbook from the RTA website. Hang on....
Here's the one for Qld: http://www.rta.qld.gov.au/
For the other states substitute the 'qld' with 'nsw', 'sa', etc.
As for the driving test - I doubt if HBgirl will have any probs - some of these buggers on the roads here shouldn't be allowed to drive nails, and THEY got through!

Try & get it done in the UK if you can, it will be much easier (well not the test but the whole process).
I've been learning to drive here in Perth, first step is to take your theory test & get a permit to drive.
Second step - take lessons and learn to drive.
Step three - take prac test.
Step Four - Drive on P Plates with a qualified driver for 25 hours, keeping a log book.
Step Five - Take a hazard perception test.
If you pass that you then get to drive unaccompanied but on P plates for TWO years.
Still at second step but hoping to leap forward soon! Lessons here are costing $35 an hour, learning to drive in an automatic. We are further north than Scarborough though.
Good luck
Loopy

You have a full UK licence, so you just do the theory part of it. I did mine here last February - piece of cake! They even have on-line sample tests, so you can practice before the real thing! It's just multiple choice, on a computer screen, with no time limits.

I was able to pass a WA theory test in 20 mins first time after a 10 min flick through the Highway code.
It is all common sense, and the only real differences were give way rules where I dropped my only points but still passed. (Makes you feel they should just test on this - it is important!!)
10 mins later I took my HR truck theory test - got 10/10. Again memorised all questions 10 mins before. Walked out not only with a WA C license but a truck learner's permit.
