Lightbulb Driving in Aus

I am no angel when it comes to driving and I am probably as inconsiderate as the next person, but when we went to Brisbane in April, I noticed that the driving habits were unlike anything you might experience here. I think here in the UK we specialise in road rage and speeding. In Queensland, it is something else... Lane indiscipline features high on the list, I noticed that overtaking on the inside is the norm, and the tighter the gap the greater the challenge!! Also filtering traffic...should read " I don't fancy your chances mate"
Maybe it was the Easter holidays with lots of tourists around or is there a problem in road etiquette? We noticed that the road toll is very high in Qld which leads us to believe a large 4x4 might be essential.
Any thoughts?

You are allowed to 'undertake' in Vic and I would imagine it is the same in QLD. The only exception is where there is 2 lanes of traffic but no painted lines seperating the lanes (if this makes sense.)

Reading the local road rules is a great idea as you will find differences!

Driving is shocking here in Perth to - I think road manners were left indoors - I've not seen anyone acknowledge a thank for letting them out of junction, passing in front, swopping lanes if traffic stuck etc etc.

So now like the other said, if you can't beat them join them!!
