Hi Folks!
Moving to Sydney in Feb 2011.
Am wondering how easy it is to get around Sydney without a car.
My offices will be in Dee Why and I plan to live along the Northern Beaches. Is there a good bus service? Tram? Trains etc along here?
Would you recommend getting a car?
Would rather now buy a car, so hopefully its ok.
All advice welcome.
Thanks.

Working in Deewhy and living elsewhere in the northern beaches should not present any transportation problems (you will be on the bus). You might decide you want a car for other reasons in due course, but you shouldn't need one for going to work.

Buses aren't great from Dee why to the city, just over an hour but you could get a bus from Dee Why to manly then jump on the ferry,
If you buy a car the really rubbish ones are really easy to spot, They have "Holden" written on the bootlid.
Driving here is really frustrating though, speed cameras everywhere and the locals seem to have no idea how to drive these strange metal horseless carriages.

I travel from Collaroy to the city and back every day, further out from Deewhy, and it takes about 40 minutes.
