kinda puts things in a different light now....dunno what we will do migration wise, cos im her main carer in the family anyway, it will be put on me to see to her. not that i mind of course......just puts a different slant on things.

after all the setbacks we have had with our plans to emigrate over the last 2 or 3 years i really thought this year was going to be "it". just shows you how wrong you can be.

What sad news !
Best wishes to you, hope everything works out.

Sue, I'm really sorry to hear about your poor Mum and am sending you a big hug. Just take it a day at a time - your Mum is your priority at the moment, so no need to make any big decisions about Oz at the moment - it'll still be here when you're ready.

thank you for all the kind messages - im quite stunned

ive jsut phoned the unit and she is moved onto a medical unit now - breathing is improving, heart rate and bp back to normal and she is waiting a senior review. they have referred her to the specialist nurses and will send in the OT, physios and social workers to ensure she has everything at home when they get closer to discharge.
'she only came in yesterday' i mentioned........'ah yes' was the reply 'but we are better at planning this sort of stuff now' .
made me smile, cos the last time i worked there they couldnt organise a raffle!!
the staff are lovely, and the nurse told me mum had been up and walked to the bathroom (with is amazing cos only 20 hours ago her O2 saturation was 72% on 100% oxygen and she couldnt say two words together she was so breathless). She has been having a joke with the nursing staff (I had to check they had the right patient..lol) and they said she was improving greatly.
im going in to see her later when oh gets in from work.

thank you so much for all your kind messages......xxxxxxxxx

I know when my mum was admitted with COPD last year, her sats were 65% and they said she would need home Oxygen and she proved them all wrong. She was in heart, lung and kidney failure and was still discharged a week later.

What I am saying is that I reckon from what you say she is tough and will fight it and surprise you.

With regards to your migration, you do what feels right for you because if something feels wrong, thats because it usually is.

And if you want to stay with your mum, you do it.

I think Mums are pretty special and your mum is so going to prove that in the next coming weeks.

And dont forget to look after yourself as well.

Take care of yourself.

Love Sam

thank you for all your messages - they are lovely.
been in to see my mum this evening and she continues to improve.
the only downside is that she now has diabetes, and is undergoing investiogations for 'further possible complications'.
i asked what they meant by that and got a shrug.........her blood chemistry isnt right and they dont know why. even the consultant was baffled, but wanted more tests.
mothers eh?
she feels much much better though, but cant get far without that oxygen...

we have decided to go ahead with the tra and visa application, and will just 'wait and see' what happens.....

thanks again for the messages....
