Sorry I can't help but I'm interested to hear how you went about doing this and what was the cost?

you need to find a clearing agent in Oz who will then advise you on bond store etc.

whoever is your shipping agent this end will probably have a clearing agent in Oz so ask them who it will be.

done it b4 but only with boxes in shared container and clearing agent contacted me when landed.

doing own 20ft later this year so interested how you progress.

we have just found a local storage company with a container height loading bay so we'll put everthing in for 1 week min (£70) and load in comfort from storage depot. means we have to move stuff to depot but then where we livea container wagon wouild not get down the lane.
plusthey said we can use fork truck!

hi
so far the container is going to cost £1.254 for a 20 foot sent to perth . we will deal with customs we have done this before and they are very helpful should be about £100 and the bond store for customs to check our stuff is about £400 . last time they was with us and looked at our list and asked to unwunwrap afew things ( not all of it ) . then get a delivery firm to deliver it at about £150
so a lot cheaper

so I have couple of questions:-

were you present when customs / quarantine inspected to find the things they wanted to check?

was your stuff then delivered to house in same container you packed in uk?

whatuk shipping agent you using?

cheers

quoted this morning £1350 for 20' or £2200 for 40'

get 2 or 3 hours to fill respectively then £45/hr if take longer.

£100 insurance covers £20k total loss only.

need to try get idea of costs in oz now!

shipper also confirmed that container is sealed here and should be same container arrives other end. If customs or aqis inspect they put their seal back on!

This is false information , your container that transports your shipment to Australia, will have to be dehired as quickly as possible otherwise it incurres a Durmurage fee, so your goods will placed in a bond store untill inspected by AQIS, then it is up to the delivery company how they transport your goods to your final destination............MM

This is very interesting.

Is there anything smaller than 20' container? I suppose shared is the only other option?

I just can't see us filling a 20' container.

A 20 foot container is the smallest Export container, if you cannot fill a container {FCL} you can send your goods {LCL} less than a container load , this means it will go in a groupage container with other jobs, that are going to the same city in Australia. ...........MM

Cheers Mr Mover - that's what I thought.

We've packed half the house up to sell it, and put it in storage. We have almost filled a 30 square foot storage area.

So 20' x 8' = 160 square foot. 5 times the size!

I could put the 4x4 in there and still have spare room
