Default does passing tra qualify you to be able to work in Oz?

Does anyone have a story to tell, (tradies) as to how long it took to be able to work when arriving in Oz?

yes, it gives you a headache trying to make sense of all the pages and pages of info on the tra site. Best advise is from another expat who has been in the same boat! Although this is an immigration question, i feel it would be more likely to get an informative reply in the forum for people who are already there! Fingers crossed for some good advice!!

It is clearly stated on your skills assessment letter that a positive result DOES NOT mean you are licensed to work in Australia. You are required to get licensed in your chosen state or territory. Each state has different regulations for how trades are assessed.

Courtesy of my niece in Brisbane. She bombarded me with links and info last week, still wading through a lot of it. We spent two years in Canada and know that carrying out different tasks abroad can vary extremely. There are always stories of somebody who did it in 10 minutes and somebody who took 10 months. Problem with this would be that it wouldn't be much fun not being able to work as a plumber for 10 months. That said I work at anything to fill the gap.
