Default Dodgy A/C Installation?

Hi all

I've just had a split system air conditioning unit installed. As part of the process they had to cut a fairly large hole in the wall, just behind the indoor unit, for the pipework.

The problem is that the hole is not sealed around the pipework. Should I have expected it to be? Doesn't this introduce a vermin entry problem?

(i.e. there is a 5cm by 5 cm hole behind the unit now with a couple of pipes through it but no sealant around the pipes or cover of any sort - just an open hole into the wall)

Thanks for your help
Dave

i`m not a plumber but it dosnt sound right to me,
when we had the new bathroom fitted our plumber sealed every hole in the studwork in which his pipes ran as well as all the pipework entering and exiting the building he told me that gaps had to be 1mm or less ( or it would fail certification ) due to as you say ingress of vermin

You must have had the same guy I had.

Mine was done like that - its a real mess and to make it worse they put all the unit etc by my front door. The water runs onto my path.

I had no idea what it woudl all look like - apparently I can move it for 1k which I will have to do when I ahve money as I feel like crying whenever I come home and come to my front door.
