Do you think we are mad?
We have just accepted an offer on our house for a private sale.We can then rent it off the buyer until we go.We have police checks back fine and meds booked for 2 weeks time so we can make sure they are ok before we sign contracts.Has anyone else sold their house before they have their visa?It seems a big risk but we dont want to live in london anymore so what the hell!!!!!!! :scared: Just want some opinions. Thanks

Its just a house, get your money in the bank.
We sold 5 months before we came out, did not even have visa, but if it all went wrong, we said well just buy another.
It was great having the money inthe bank. It does not last long when you get here though. Good luck

(Seriously - I don't think the risk is very big at all - you don't want to live in London so even if you don't get the visa you will be able to buy a better/bigger place outside London for the same money so where's the risk??)
Good Luck & Best wishes - fingers crossed for the Visa to turn up very soon ....

Anyway yes we flogged our house before we even applied for our visa (sort of anyway). We decided that in an uncertain housing market we would get a good price for ours while we could and stay with the in-laws for a while. Nine months as it turned out.
So yes you must be insane but what the hell. Make hay while the sun shines and all that .....

We sold in July 2003 and moved into rental.
After a long journey we are leaving in a few weeks - YES it was worth it.
If the Visa doesnt come through you can still have a change and buy another house. But if your Visa does come through and you havent sold you have less alternatives dont you.

It's not the right question for me to be answering
However in my humble opinion if you have already decided you will move anyway then you have made a very, very wise decision.
The last 12-18 months has seen many visa holders held back due to not selling their house so you won't have to face that frustration.
