Power is the same except for the powercuts, your TV might not work though as the tuners are on a different frequency. I'm told this is something that can be altered but unless your TV is very new I might consider leaving it behind and buying a nice big plasma once you get here.

Take some extension leads with you, then you only have to change the one plug for your PC to work (connect PC, speakers and Monitor into extension lead). Do the same for the TV and vid/dvd. You will need a set up box or Foxtel satellite to see the channels on the TV.

You can just buy the Australian version of the PC plugs and that takes care of the monitor and PC at least, the cables are exactly the same just have the country plugs on the end that plugs into the wall :)

Oh my god not this f****** question again.

Why will my tv work, what is the power like, is the sun still yellow, is the sky still blue.

do some research, I am worried that people have not found out the basics for themselves, (I know that people will say, posting questions on here is research).
I agree with that if the questions had never come up before. FFS

Why does'nt a moderator instead of shifting everything around all the time. Do a sticky for idiots to look at with the Ten most frequently asked questions.

And set up some basic grammar/spelling rules. People with English as a third language can do better than this.

Bit harsh:frown:

The OP has searched but was concerned that things were different in Cairns. It is a big move and people want to make the right decisions, so I don't see any problem here. If you didn't like the question you could have ignored it....

Hope your question has been answered KerryRyan....

I didn't know they'd gone

Shouldn't that be a full stop at the end of confused.

I think it was a bit harsh too. Every state is different here, different rules and standards across state boundaries so who knows, it could have been different way up north. Afterall wasn't it only a few years ago you had to change trains at the borders because the guages were all different! Also Cairns is very humid and unless you have AC and and de-humidifier who knows if a TV or computer would last very long unless you took precautions..

:thumbdown:Aussie_Pom, are you being bullied and having to go to OZ for new friends, with an attitude like that you wont get any, no community spirit, very selfish, i wish you sunburn, oh and hope everything goes well:sneaky:

If you had AC you would not need a de-humidifier. Both do the same job. With a bit of research you could have found thaqt out.;);)

If the same questions keep cropping up does it suggest that you've been posting on here too long?

Only I too am noticing that the same topics are coming up ALL the time (house selling in the UK is one at the moment) and I thought maybe it was down to the length of time I've been posting on here?

Perhaps I should do something else with my time and let the newbies ask away, after all I'm sure we all asked those questions at some point

Slip, Slop, Slap no sunburn on me I'm afraid.

You can always tell the newly arrived migrants from the UK, they are the only ones in OZ that are tanned.:D

I am just fed up with the same questions coming up time and time again.:)

Will I need to change my plugs in Oz, oh and which side of the road do they drive on?

I think you are probably right. Just been a bit bored lately.

I liked Expats when people like Wilf, and Pommie-Bastard were around.:D

I agree, tis quiet round here lately and yes VERY repetitive (although I blame the amount of time I'm on here for that)

If you don't have anything useful to contribute to threads like this, can I suggest that you stop reading them.
You may have lived here for some time but many people are in the initial stages of their research. If you don't wish to help, please just stay away from threads like this.

In addition, you have already been told the reason why threads are moved, can I suggest that you accept the answer given by Sue.

Good 'ol British restraint: we are a polite lot at times.

Aussie_Pom spouts forth an unprovoked diatribe and many posters suggest he is being "a little harsh".

I suspect what they actually are thinking is more on the lines of "what a ******g tosser" ;)

Re: Do you no the answer

I find it bizarre that somebody would not 'know' the difference in the the two ways of spelling 'know' and 'no'!!!

sorry, hope that doesn't sound negative but it is pretty duff...:o

had to get that off my chest:p:rofl:

I find you a silly little person if my spelling bothers you that much for you to make a comment, you must have a very dull life

Ermmmm. no!;)

I'm sorry, but we taught our own daughter how to spell this word properly when she was prob about 5:confused:

Just figured you might want to know/no (delete as applicable:p) as i'm sure life can be tough when simple grammar is such an obstacle:blink:

Anyway, good look with the TV!!!
(there is a test in the last sentence - 'can you guess what it is yet!!!')

OK, enough.

Please go and read the rules, and remember that this is a community and it exists to help each other not to quibble, argue and generally pick fault.

If you can't be civil you are not wanted here.
