I remember scaring the milkman once! I got home a about 4 am and, as I got in, I saw the milk float just down the road. I went into the kitchen and saw two empty bottles on the worktop. As I opened the door to put them out, the milkman was just walking around the corner of the garage, already bending over to put the milk bottles down. As he got up again he saw me leaning towards him waving two 'empties' at him. He screamed, stumbled backwards and fell over my hedge! He wasn't too impressed when I started laughing!:D

Yup we know his name and I reckon he deliberately walks past our house grinning [when there's no mail]. I guess I'll have to warn him of the danger he'll be in should he join his mates and go on strike. Deb will have his bit's on a skewer :scared: :scared:

We don't know ours yet, but i think he knows that we are waiting for something quite important as we leap out on him every morning and drive off swearing when he hasn't got what we want!... our TRA assessment or anything remotely australian would be nice!!!

We now know our post ladies name - JEAN!!!

My little boy Josh (nearly 6) was 4 when he used to talk to her when the post arrived. He used to keep her there for hours gambling on about nothing and then one day he said to me "look mum Jackie the postlady is coming!!" So at Xmas time we got her a card and chocolates "to Jackie" . All the kids on the way to school used to say "Hi Jackie"

Turns out her name was Jean - it was on her uniform badge.!!!

Just realised we don't our's name but he is a 'friend' We are a cul de sac and No 1 so he leaves his bike in our drive and walks the road and then retrieves his bike. Knows everyone and if a letter is wrongly addressed - wrong number etc- he puts it in the right house - a dying breed.

He gave me a hint on how to stop all the junk mail we used to get and it has worked (a tel no. but I can't remember it now)

Make a friend of your postie I miss him when he is on holiday and the post is just thrown through the letterbox - late. My postie opens the porch door and hides it around the corner out of sight of the road. ;) ;) ;)

Really funny Steve.

When we were waiting for our visas, hubby used to follow him around the village like a stalker.

Hi Arlene,

Good thread!! Yes we know our postman`s name, he`s a lovely bloke, he`s off sick at the moment, so we really miss him, but we do have his phone number. He has in fact been a great help regarding Oz, as his son is emigrating this year with his Aussie wife. I don`t know any of the new posties names or what they look like even but they`ve been doing a good job so I can`t complain.

Come to think of it I don`t think we`ve ever had a bad postie....well now that`s tempting fate!!!

Good luck to everyone, what ever stage you`re at!

Ours is really shy hardly talks at all and he still posts letters from previous owners of our house and we,ve lived here over 3yrs.... he must think a lot of people live here. At least he comes really early so we dont usually have to wait too long for post

Ours wears orange and rides a moped !! Cant really see if its a he or a she when they come tearing across your lawns at about mid day . I know though when he/she is coming because all you can here is the screeching of brakes , then a brummmm then screech , for every time it stops at a box . Sorry i know you are on about uk posties , just wanted to tell you about ours , mind you mine always waves or nods if i go by in the car.

We seem to have a different one each day. Still think it's a funny sight, postie on a moped. If we get a parcel it's normally just dumped on the doorstep early in the morning, but we get our normal post then as well, otherwise it's now after 1pm when it makes it here. Apparently at Christmas post can turn up at all hours, is that right?

Our moped postie looks like the motorcycle guy out of the Village People's YMCA video, dark glasses, mostache.

My first encounter with him was nearly knocking him off his bike as I was pulling out my drive. Those mopeds are dangerous!
