Deep Breath... ;-)

You will certainly get pictures.

In some Tv's you have a option in the settings for PAL I/B/G if you see that then the sound will work too.

If they dont work wiht sound you buy a cheap VCR or DVD player or a Set-Top Box to act as a tuner and use a rgb or scart cable to connect dvd thingy to the TV and you'll be fine.

Search on the search forum button up top and you'll see about 1,036,245 answers to this ;-), including details of what megahflups poppadoodles and gigawurtz the sound is broadcast on .

cheers.

Very much appreciated, not sure what my kids will do without TV's. Will definitely ship them as shipment is being paid for and then research when I am there.

What is the satellite TV set up like there ?

Cheers
Mark

The latest TV's should work either automatically or via a setting. My Toshiba is PAL B/G capable without any modification or adjustment. Older TV's will work via a VCR or set-top box. I'd take it.

In that case definitely bring them mate , even if they wont take Ausie signals they're good for DVD players in bedrooms and PS2's etc !.

www.foxtel.com.au will give you all you need to know about satellite - its the same as UK Sky , even Sky+ (foxtel IQ) not as many channels and some of the better kids channels are missing (like discovery kids :-< )

Cheers, think I will spend the rest of my UK days (2 more) and research the articles here. Seems like a huge step with 4 teenagers, but tone of this site suggests it is definitely worth it

Great help, appreciated. Wife and kids really nervous as I have a job to go to. Travelling to Melbourne on Thursday for first exposure at weekend. Family coming out in early October. These sites are excellent.

If they don't work we'll just have to play more golf, spend more time in bars and have lots of bbq's.

Sounds like a tough life, but one I can easily cope with.
