Default Do I need a re entry visa?

Migrated to Perth a year ago on a 136 skilled independent visa, so have permanent residency stamp in my passport. I'm planning to go back to the UK for 2 weeks over easter and someone told me last night that I will need a re entry visa to get back in to Australia. I thought my permanent residency stamp covered this Can anyone clarify?

you only need a resident return visa if your 136 has expired (you get 5 years from when you had your visa approved). if your five years are still current then you can come and go at will.

after your 5 years you either need to apply for RRV before you leave ozzie shores or take citizenship then you have no problems at all.

hope this helps

When was your visa granted?

Brilliant Thanks for that. This is what I had thought. Our visa was approved in November 2005. I thought I could come and go willy nilly but this other person confused me last night. We have every intention in taking out citizenship as soon as our 2 years is up. At least we managed to get in on the 2 year time limit

I saw

There's always one smart arse about that makes you question if you're right or not isn't there. The next time that person tries to give you advice, tell them they haven't a clue
