DIMIA evaluation of Prof experience
Hi,
Do you have any idea of how DIMIA evaluates professional experience? I mean:
- Do they refer to the skill assessment report only?
- Do they also evaluate your professional years by means of the employer references you sent?
I'm asking this question because on my ACS report, I have been given a computer professional ASCO code (60 points), but they added with one year experience in C++.
This seemed to me rather weird as I have actually 4 years experience in IT, but may be they could not qualify the rest of my experience... This could be the reason. But I was wondering if DIMIA could consider that this statement ('one year experience') is EXCLUSIVE ????
Thanks for your feedback again...

BTW, the C++ MODL is as good as useless now, as it's slated for removal from the MODL soon enough.

Correct.

Incorrect. If you look at the MODL site www.immi.gov.au/allforms/modl.htm
you'll note that the new list has not taken effect yet. We interpret this
to mean that people planning to get applications in using MODL points are
being given fair warning to lodge immediately, and that's what we are
telling clients. The April change in the MODL list was advertised at the
time as not affecting those applications already lodged. We would expect a
consistent approach from DIMIA.

Agreed, which is why I said "... soon enough". The date of effect of the new MODL has not been set by DIMIA.

Hang on a minute. Are you saying that the MODL points will be awarded (when one's application is assessed) using the MODL at the time the application was lodged? This runs counter to what is stated on page 34 of the Skilled Migration Booklet 6 where it's clearly printed that the MODL current at the time of assessment is used (as opposed to the MODL at the time of lodgement).

Again, my same comment as above - I thought the MODL used to assess an application was always the MODL current at the time of assessment, and not current at lodgement or any other time? At least that's how I interpret the Skills Migration Booklet.

The assumption, of course, is that ICT applications lodged between now and the date of effect of the new MODL will not be assessed before the new MODL kicks in.

Re: DIProf experience
George,
Let me get this correct...
What you are saying is that last time the MODL was modified, the
applications that were launched before the modifications were not
affected and got points for MODL.
Similarly, if someone launched the application in early September with
MODL for say C ++ would not be affected and can count on MODL points,
even though the MODL will no longer be current later on. >
If this is so, I am greatly relieved. I missed out due to some issues
about 6 years ago and would be in the same trouble again this time.
Whew.....hope this is as you say.....

Peter and George,
Many thanks for your inputs !
If feel better to know that the ACS statement is not linked to the experience evaluation.
Have a nice day

New MODL changes - Effective date clarification
Hello George,
Now that DIMIA has announced the new MODL list changes effective
October 4, 2002 how can we find if "OLD MODL" list will be applied to
applications submitted before October 4, 2002?
Before someone else tells me...MODL points are awarded on assessment
and not when application is lodged (which is DIMIA line); George
Lombard in his post below mentioned this not to be the case last time
MODL changes took place.
How does one find how DIMIA will apply the MODL points to old
applications? Does DIMIA publish this somewhere?
I am really concerned as without MODL I am left with only 110 points.
BTW my application reached Adelaide in early September and I got
acknowledgment from DIMIA dated September 22.
Thanks
