Default Dimensional control surveyor

I was wondering in perth if there was a demand plenty jobs around for a Dimensional control surveyor in say the oil and gas industry etc,i have a trade behind me,but maybe offered the above title as a trainee, there is no papers at the end of it to say i would be one or i can do it,but was wondering if such a job was busy in australia.
I am thinking if i am offered the job and i do it before moving to oz i then have two options of work i can find or do,its only going to take 3 to 6 months to be trained up if i get the job, and as i not be heading to oz in say another year i thought why not give it a go if i am offered this.
But was wondering if anyone knew anyone that did this in perth australia or anywhere in australia, how much work is around for this kind of work and what the pay is like there for this.
If i am picked for the job i just wanted to see if its worth doing, as its another side to my current job, i think would be usefull to have behind me or gain.
