As long as the prognosis for the future is good no worries. Andrew my other half is Type 2 diabetic taking Gliclazide. DIMIA required that he saw an endocronologist and an opthalmologist, he also needed to see a nephrologist as he had elevated levels of protein in his urine. Each specialist had to write a report that had to include "the prognosis for the future is good".
We had tp pay to see all these privately as Andrew was only diagnosed in April, it might well be that your friend has already seen specialists who can write the appropriate reports.
We haven't actually got our visa yet but have paid the bond so that is usually a good sign. Hope that helps a bit. Another other questions, give me a yell.

I asked the same question as I am insulin dependent, had medical in December and have no further queries regarding my condition. Providing you control your blood sugar well I don't think it is a problem. The only negative I'm aware of is that you have to pay for your own needles, whereas drug addicts get them for free.
