Cool Declaired Items 12months Or Less??

We are just filling out the removals form and it is asking if we have any goods less than 12 months old. I know some people dont say anything and keep quiet, but I have a new tool box which you can tell has never been used and want to play it safe and tell them. What happens, do we get charged and if so how much? Do they charge per item or is it worked out by the price of the item?? Does anybody have an experience in this? Thanks, Pete

After 13 months wouldn't it look the same as 6 months?

I'm sure someone will know the exact amount, but you have a duty free allowance of about $800 each ( not for alcohol though )
We declared a Dyson and a brand new radio, and nothing was mentioned by customs.
Personally if it's a small amount of goods I'd rather play cautious and declare, I'm always the one that gets caught!

My husband had a brand new tool box full of brand new tools. I didnt even think to declare it! At the end of the day, just because you havent used them it doesnt mean they are brand new! If you have anything new just take any tags off - how the hell would they know otherwise?

That sounds ok as it only cost £260 and the tools in it aren't new, so if it's $800 we should be fine. Pete
