And we'll get an extra hours drinking time before the fireworks on Australia Day!

Can't start them at 8 o'clock now. Nobody will see them!!!

Apparently our dear Premier over here has said that we definitely won't be getting it, not because of the cows or the chickens, not even because god forbid our curtains and furniture will fade but because we will all get more skin cancer from having one more hour of sunshine

I still can't believe a man in his position has come out with this. Scary.
I'm glad it's happening in WA, but why the need for a 3 year trial?. Seems there is an obsession with referendums here. We elect government to make decisions on our behalf, why do we need a referendum. Just get on with it.
Already Farmers are complaining. If DLS is such a problem, how the hell have farmers in NSW, Vic & S. Australia managed for all these years?

I always find the objection from farmers strange. Surely they set their own working hours so for 99% of the stuff they do it shouldn't matter whether DLS is in or not.

It's not such a daft a thing to say. If everyone in QLD sticks to their normal waking/sleeping hours then they WILL get an extra hour of daylight during their waking hours (which is the whole point of doing it) and they COULD get more skin cancer.

It's only the people who currently get up at 4.30am (or whenever the sun rises) that wouldn't be affected by any change.

The problem with sun/skin cancer is at it's worst during the middle of the day. An extra hour of sunshine at the end of the day is not going to be a problem. So it is a daft thing to say.
