Re: Day Light Saving Perth
Apparently our dear Premier over here has said that we definitely won't be getting it, not because of the cows or the chickens, not even because god forbid our curtains and furniture will fade but because we will all get more skin cancer from having one more hour of sunshine

I'm glad it's happening in WA, but why the need for a 3 year trial?. Seems there is an obsession with referendums here. We elect government to make decisions on our behalf, why do we need a referendum. Just get on with it. Already Farmers are complaining. If DLS is such a problem, how the hell have farmers in NSW, Vic & S. Australia managed for all these years? |

It's only the people who currently get up at 4.30am (or whenever the sun rises) that wouldn't be affected by any change. |

Re: Day Light Saving Perth
Will we be turning the clocks forward then in December?
Does anyone have the date? Tracey |

I had better watch that sun, if only I had a mind of my own.  |

Siren If they continue to do this after daylight saving is introduced (when the sun will be rising at 5.30pm), they'll still continue to experience the full amount of available daylight, so are unaffected by the change. Changing the clocks will make no difference to the amount of daylight they get during their waking hours. It's only the people who are currently missing out on daylight because they're in bed asleep that will benefit from the change. |

can't see an extra hour making much of a difference!! anyway we all did it back in the UK so it shouldn't affect us that much.
I'm all for trying it out ;) |

Siren Golfers will be happy.....an extra 3 or 4 holes to play after work. :D |

Siren I can understand both sides of the argument. I can see that Perth (and the rest of SW WA) and Brisbane (and the rest of SE QLD) would definitely benefit - it's just that the remainder of those huge states won't. There's absolutely no point whatever in Cairns or Broome, for example, having daylight saving. Logical solution would be for the southern parts of WA and QLD to have it and the rest, not - but I can't really see that happening. |
