Default A day in Canberra

On Monday I will be in Canberra for the day. I have some legal stuff to do at the SA high commission in the morning that will take no more than 30mins - after that the day is free until my flight in the late afternoon.

Can anyone recommend something to do for the day? I don't want to do too much, just one or two things to pass the day.

I think Canberra has lots to see as it is so unusual (but a long day is plenty). The War Memorial, Lake Burley Griffin (with water jet), Parliament, museum and view from the mountain top are your standard things to do. A drive round the embassies seeing if you can guess which country it is by the building design is more off-the-wall though.

Actually, I didn't. I have seen plenty of shops here but not been in one. Honest! I assumed they sold that sort of thing but obviously not. The article I read did say you can buy it mail order from ACT though.

Anyway, we brought some with us disguised in Friends boxes. Well they certainly acted very friendly

I'd have to get a better porn star name though - Major Woody sounds good.

MartinLuther is an unknown quantity at this point

I'd recommend the tour of either or both parliament buildings. I also liked the National Museum. You could also try the deep space centre which is about 30-40 mins from central Canberra but still within the ACT.

You could nip across the border into NSW. Not much there but that's NSW for you

Check out the real estate offices. You may find some land or a house you could buy
