All the banks are equally poor here. Some credit unions are OK, Australian Central would be my choice.

Can't really help with Schools, my 5 year old daughter goes to Driver Primary (in Palmerston) and it's very good.

We've been with ANZ for nearly 4 years and never had an issue. When we were in Darwin, we got decent service from them when required.

May - September - warm and dry
October - November - humidity cranks up high, temperature rises
December - April - hot and humid, rain and storms most afternoons.

Yahoo! weather for Darwin - looks pretty typical for this time of year!

Crocodile cruise at Adelaide River, about an hour's drive from Darwin, pretty good. $25 each
Territory Wildlife Park - Berry Springs - 40 Mins from Darwin. Very nice day out. $25 each
Mindil Beach Markets - in Darwin (near Sky City Casino) - follow the crowds on a Thursday or Sunday Night. Free, but busy and a great sunset.

The V8's at Surfer's are nothing like the V8's anywhere else, trust me. The Hidden Valley event is just all about the racing really

I reckon you will need to book up NOW to get into Darwin for June. There are not that many options there in the first place and it does get busy in June. Depending on how 'budget' you want to be. There are hotels / Holiday Inn type accom that will be fairly pricy, a couple of backpackers - probably better quality than most backpackers - on Mitchell and Cavenagh streets or you could go for a cabin on a camp site.

When we moved up there, we stayed in a cabin at Shady Glen tourist park until we could get into our rental. The place is pretty pleasant, the cabins are decent and there is a good size pool. Peggy - the owner - looked after us too and is very friendly. It's on the Stuart Hwy about 10km out of town but buses run by regularly.
