Red face CV?

Hi all again
Im really going for the "How many posts in day prize"

Any how,the wife is the brains of the family, while im a self employed plasterer(did gain NVQ2 11 years ago,but no records, thats another post)

I have checked into how do do a CV online and by wifey(who has sent her cv off) but i want to try and do my own cv with asking wifey

The major stumbling block is that i didnt complete all my exams at skool,so i have no O levels or anything like that
But i have ooooddles of hands on skills and also face to face manners with people.

So because i want to send a cv off to a few people about maybe a change in career etc and not to feel too ashamed that there wil be a big space missing under the heading QUALIFICATIONS can someone offer a academic nobber a hand,so i can at least impress the wife

Thanks jason

Concentrate on the EXPERIENCE and dont limit yourself too the core technical skills of the particular role. Expand to the additional skills used which may transcend to other vocations ie interpersonal skills (handling of difficulty clients/customers/suppliers).

Of particularly importance is attitude (not aggro) and its not qualifications that always show this, but more how people have handled themselves in different situations.

Quantify everything. Rather than saying "worked on housing project that built govt houses" say "worked for 7 months on 600 million pound govt housing project plastering 23 walls a day so I could complete my 92 houses 2 months ahead of schedule and save the govt millions of squid"

Mention soft skills like determination, persistence, cooperation, commitment to high standards etc - whatever you feel suits you and you can expand on naturally in an interview.

What about merging the Qualifications/Training section together in one heading and then including any training course etc in that section to flesh it out. Also mention any people you have trained.

Hi jason

Also look at www.seek.com.au for ideas on how to structure a cv based on experience rather than qualifications. I'm doing that at the moment too, and can't remember what year I did what etc
