Default Copied DVD's

Does anyone know if there are likely problems taking copied DVD's to oz?

Instead of taking my original DVD's with me I was going to take copies of them, I've also got a few downloaded and 'dodgy' copies from the market

Yes, Im interested in this.

Ive got quite a few copies as in a non english speaking country at the moment! So this has saved me from going stir crazy!

Now use dailymotion, ouou, etc to watch tv shows.

I remember reading old post and someone said they brought them in ok. But would like bit more info and feedback.

I, sorry, a friend, bought several copy DVD and PS2 games in without an issue by container along with possessions.
Also gets some sent from Thailand by mail. No problem.
When bringing a few in personally, best to remove them from the give away sleeves - DVDs in hand luggage amnd sleeves in hold luggage
Or so I beleive!

But of course it is bound to be illegal and I would never do it.

No problems to bring them in. What's to say they (DVD's) weren't recorded of tv or downloaded. Put them with other vids/dvds, don't tell them and they probably won't even give them a second glance. Only ones they would have problems with is if the dvds are blatantly kiddie-porn etc.

Xbox ok as long as you have machine to play them on. If not you'd have to get one chipped.

Our shipment went off last Tuesday with approx 450 DVD's, many of which are copies. We were worried about the same thing so we rang up the shippers who advised us that we should have no problem as long as there aren't multiple copies of the same DVD. Apparently Customs are only interested in illegal distribution of copied DVD's, not copies for personal use.

Guy in our office makes loads of business trips to China, Vietnam etc and is always bringing back dodgy DVDs. He's been stopped by customs at times and has never had any problems.

We have been told the same thing - its due to them being for personal use and not distribution. We also have tons of em we are taking.

Wink Re: Copied DVD's

Most of the DVD's we brought were hooky and these came in the container and no probs, offspring types brought some to keep them going until box arrived again no dramas, remember that if you bring UK player and purchase OZ DVD it is al ottery if they will play, before we came I bought a piece of software from t'internet ca called DVD unlocker and used it to unlock the regions in the kids dvd players not all models ae listed so it is a bit of a lottery and they now play all regions. :thumbup

Good question!!

This is something I wondered also. We have a fine collection of top shelf por......ahem, Adult Viewing Material - I blame the little chinese man that is always coming round our work knocking em out 7 for £20 etc....

Anyways, these are obviously copies as he has printed the film sleeve in miniature on the front of the DVD's. Would we have a problem entering with these in hand luggage?

Anyone for swapsies? (only joking mods)!!

Just wait till the Oz Media hears about this.

I can see the shock horror headlines now.
