Cooper's Mild and Little Creatures Bright Ale
These are my two new beers of the week.
Began with a LC Bright Ale. Dreadful nose (is that the right lingo?) - really foul, chemical smell. Taste not too bad - but pleasant after taste. Won't be buying it again though.
Then moved on to a couple of Little Creatures Pilsner - good and not too strong at 4.5% (really wanted to do Cooper's Sparkling again but couldn't face 5.8%).
Now on Cooper's Mild which is not bad but a little lacking in taste (hence Mild?).
Keep your beer recommendations coming.

Recommended beers, please !
We drank mostly VB and Emu when on our recce to Perth this year, but I'd like to hear recommendations in advance of my ( fingers crossed ) move early next year.
We only shopped for beer at the Quinns Rocks shopping centre drive-through bottle shop, and the Quinns beach road bottle shop ( next to the excellent beach cafe )

Oh God, don't get me started on beer. I can wax lyrical all night. Post another thread nearer the time - and you could do a search on here, there's a few of us who have contributed opinions over the months.

Not even Greene King's 'Beer to dine for' ??
Okay.
I, too, like beer. But if you don't want to help me get my 'what to look for in Perth, and where' file ready it's up to you < sniff >. Selfish.

Cooper's stout
Is it really a stout, as we know it ?
5.8% is a bit whey-hey, but I suppose you could just have 11 or 12 pints.
Is there much non-lager beer in Oz ?

Went to little creatures when we visited two years ago and thought that their ROGERS beer was real nice, enjoyed several of those and even brought a few bottles home and a T.Shirt lol

The vast majority is lager type - i.e. yellowish and fizzy.
But that doesn't mean it's all bad. Some of it is really tasty (in a European tradition rather than the british Carling etc) although you can get the low end bland stuff if you want (and it's a cheap as)
There are some good dark beers if you look.

I agree about the Little Creatures Bright, -not to their normal standards! Spoke to one of the guys at the bar, and he basically said its a top filtered version of the pale ale. So it's just another lager.
Coopers Pale Ale is one of my favourites, as is Little Creatures Pale. There is a fantastic shop in Leederville where you can get most UK popular beers and real ales, and also a good selection of Belgian Beers.

A current favourite in our house is James Squire's Golden Ale - good for quaffing (check out website for description - I'm no good at that - just like to drink it).
