On average how long did it take to get your container from the ship docking date, to the your new home.

3 months, but we purposely wanted a slower boat as when we shipped out our stuff our visa still hadn't been granted

Yup, anywhere between those two Arriving after christmas should get it to you quicker in theory but in practice, depending on whether there is a backlog from christmas it could be longer. Ours left 21st October, arrived 26th November and was available 11th December 2005. It depends also on whether they are being efficient at checking containers or being over efficient.

It's a 'how long is a piece of string' question really.

Good luck with the move.

Ooh my container arrives on 11th January too! It arrives in Brisbane having left Southampton on the 12th December, changes ships in Singapore. Been told can take anything from 1 to 4 weeks to clear customs. I thought the Southampton to Brisbane time scale was quite quick as I'd been told it could take anything up to 11 or 12 weeks! Hope this might help.

If it's a full container load - i.e. sole use, should only take 1-2 weeks, but add a week for possible backlog for xmas closures. If a groupage (shared) - 2-4 weeks. Agree with moneypen20 - depends on how much they are checking. You might get lucky!

sorry to be the bearer of bad news but dont count your chickens- Crown colleted our stuff at the beginning of Sept and it arrived this week - this was after being told it would dock 3 weeks ago - coimplained but they just said "thats shipping for you - unlucky!" (thats another story - will tell all later) - but then it turns out that the container was on a different boat completely to the one that Crown thought that it was on - they had basically lost it!
Getting through customs took only a week so you may get lucky!

I would never use Crown again -their service is appalling
