AQIS fee depends on how much of the consignment is examined - how many boxes they look at - and how many items are treated/destroyed. Thats why it can't be paid in advance in the UK, cos the UK don't know what AQIS will choose to examine.

Crown gave me a quote which included aquis( althought they didnt say how much this was) and Pss gave me a quote without and said they couldnt give me a price for Aquis as it would depend.
So how comes Crown charge for it before ???

I am confused by this !!!!

PSS are right - the AQIS bill is unknown until AQIS have inspected the goods. I'd check with Crown and see whether this covers a basic inspection fee, or everything = I'd be surprised if its the latter. Every item AQIS wish to treat or destroy is charged separately - I was quoted $65 destruction, $785 treatment per item. So unless Crown are taking the risk of swallowing a huge bill, be careful - you may think you've paid for AQIS and then get hit with a huge bill this end, And the goods aren't released till its paid.

Thanks for the info

I assumed it would cover the basic inspection- I didnt think it would include costs for stuff that had to be destroyed or treated- I just hope I dont end up having to have anything destroyed or treated !!!

( althought I wouldnt mind having my estate agent destroyed !!!- long story !)
