Hello people, does anybody know if we have to collect our baggage and clear customs when we land in Dubai for our connection flight to Brisbane

Who are you flying with? Emirates?
How long is your stopover in Dubai?
Normally, if you're carrying on straight through the same day, with the same airline, your bags will be checked all the way through, so you won't have to collect them in Dubai.

Be aware that you will most lkely have to pass through a sevurity check again though - so it may mean shoes off, belts off etc as everyone passes through the metal detectors again - and when I was last there, there were long queues so go straight through as soon as you can (if it's busy) and then find your departure gate and browse the shops, have a toilet break etc.

You'll also be stopping for an hour or so in Singapore for refuelling and will get off the plane then. You have to get back on the plane but go through another security check.

I was wondering this. We're flying out on 26th August from Manchester, and was worried what would happen about the connection flight to Brisbane if the flight was delayed from Manchester - I worry about everything
We're just going to get our visas stamped because we haven't sold the house yet, unless of course we manage to sell before then, in which case we won't be coming back!

One of the times we had a 10 hour wait for next flight, (knew this when we booked tickets), we were given hotel room, transfer to hotel, light supper and light breakfast as part of the flight. Bags were checked through from Manchester to Sydney.
One delay was so bad, (runway was out of action), that we had to queue to book seats on next available flight. Once Emirates staff at Dubai were aware that we had young children we went straight to head of the queue.
When you get off at Singapore you have to take all of your hand baggage with you.
I know that a lot of people slate Emirates, and I've been upset by them a couple of times, but they are brilliant with children.
Safe trip, and good luck with selling the house!
We thought we were coming to validate and ended up coming for good, so it can happen.

Thanks M.
Hopefully the flights will go smoothly, and we won't have to come back.

Are your UK - Sydney - ADL flights all on the same ticket - or did you book SYD-ADL seperately? If seperately then which airline is the SYD - ADL with?
