Default computer data base sharing

My husband really wants to emmigrate to Aus. and has started to get the relevant documents for me to read through. The Australian immigration seem to want to know all your personal details but surely they must be able to find everything they want to know about you by giving them your national ins. number or passport number. Dont the UK & Aus. government share their information / computer systems ? They must share some sort of data base to make it easier.

The UK agencies alone dont share data nevermind with an overseas government! Interestingly to send subject data outside the EU is a breach of data protection without the subjects consent.

But no - there is no database or other mine of personal information to share.

But they must share certain information...what would stop someone with a criminal record lying, or someone who has never worked saying they have work experience ? The information should be held against your nat. ins. number and your passport number.

That information will be required but it must be obtained by yourself, you will be required to obtain written references from previous employers, and with regards to the criminal record, you will be asked at some point for a police check to be done, you request this from your local police station and forward it on to DIMIA.

Unfortunately it is a long winded and stressful process but for most of us, it is all worth the hard work and wait.

Good luck
Theresa

In a word no they dont. The UK passport agency is not linked to any other, such as the National Insurance Register. In turn the records of the DVLA, police service and in fact every other database in the UK is not linked to any other. The police service records are only just now becoming a national system from regional!! If the UK cant manage to link its own systems then linking them to any other countries would be impossible.

As the above poster said as a part of the process you must provide Police checks done on yourself as proof of character. You must also get your TRA or other body to verify your work skills and experience. I think most people would say that this part is perhaps the trickiest as you need to provide a lot of information to say the least. The actual visa application form is relatively straightforward by comparison I would guess in most cases.

In summary since your police record is checked, your skills checked and verified, is there really any need to spend the millions linking two entirely seperate countries databases for the sake of the relatively tiny minority of immigrants. More to the point would YOU be willing to pay for that system. Its not viable is all. Besides, tell porkies on your application, get caught out and kiss your visa goodbye. Not really worth it.
