Commercial Driver Licence?

Commercial Driver Licence?
Hi everyone,
Hubby and I are moving to Cairns, QLD, in Feb. '06. We'd like to apply for Commercial Driver Licences for tourist services (no taxi!) as soon as possible. Our European driver licences were issued more than ten years ago, and we never had an accident or drunk driving problems.
Unfortunately, the forms we downloaded (F2978 and others) point out: "you must have held an Australian driver licence for two (2) years."
Anybody tried to apply for a Commercial Driver Licences without waiting 2 years? Do you think European driving experience will count for an Australian Commercial Driver Licence?
Ideas and suggestions welcome!
