Countries that flog resources are 'resource-based', not those that consume them : you're confusing (again) supply and demand.

If physics was your first degree, and I have to explain what "high grade energy" and "low grade heat" are then I wonder if:
1. you actually have a degree, or
2. just skite about having one, or
3. just how you managed to get one,
4. you live in an ethereal bubble removed from reality.
But, please explain away. In the meantime, I can warm myself with the fact that both my degrees are from universities that rate higher on the world stage than any Oz/HickLand has to offer.

Incidentally, who did you buy your degree from?

Your degrees are just worthless pieces of paper compared to Australia's real wealth of gold, iron ore, coal, copper, oil, natural gas, as well as the largest exporter of beef, wheat, sugar and many other foods. If Britain was cut off from the rest of the world in a few months it would be starving to death , while Australia has enough food and natural resources that it could easily survive by its self if the rest of the world disappeared.

But Oz sells it for next to nothing - which is one of the reasons Oz has a worse trade imbalance (as a % of GDP) than even the USA.

Shhh. Don't tell the Indonesians. A few bad harvests, and some of their 200+ miilion may take the short journey south and help themselves to Oz's resources. You'd better prepare; how's your knowledge of the Koran?

We would Nuke the little buggers.
or blow their boats out of the water with our fighter jets before they could land. John Howard would love to do that as it would help him win another election, like when he sent the SAS to take on those Tampa boat people.
Your immigration laws are so generous and stupid If 200 million boat people showed up on the shores of Britain the Government would probably make everyone hand over heir house to them and live out on the street.

You'd better look at your arsenal, buddy; you ain't got no nukes. As for Indonesia, who knows? Especially, after that Pakistani nuclear scientist decided to give away atomic secrets to muslim countries. There could be some horrendous irony here - Indonesia builds nuclear weapons, fuelled by Oz uranium.

We have plenty of Uranium and l read that in an emergency the government would use this uranium to quickly put together a nuclear bomb

A small, dirty bomb perhaps - a few thousand dead? But, if Indonesia threatened to drop a bomb apiece on Melbourne and Sydney, followed by a small firework on Adelaide - 70% of Oz's population would disappear.

And don't assume that USA would rush to Oz's rescue. In the great scheme of things, it isn't going to risk an all-out nuclear war for the sake of less than 0.5% of the world's population.

Maybe the old Mother country would come and help save their colony, like the
faulklands, l'm sure you would be one the first poms to join up and come downunder to fight to liberate us, then again we would probably be better off if you were on the other side.

Being the same Oz government that provided every citizen with a fridge magnet as a counter-terrorist weapon?

In WW2, Australia's plan in the event of a Japanese invasion was to allow the Japs to come in through the north & pull back their troops to defend the southern populated areas. By the time the japs got down there, they would have been in a mess, their supply lines would be massively overextended & with the RAN & USN interdicting their sea lanes, it would have been game over. Same applies today.
