It does very much depend on your budget and expectations but if you are looking for a light airy 4 bed+ with aircon and pool for less than $700 per week don't hold your breath... they are there but do get snapped up very quickly. We even paid a deposit on one and then the tenants didn't move out!!...
We are now in a lovely 2 storey house with the required pool and aircon.. but not close to our firends... it takes about 40 minutes to Bayside.. Good luck everyone.. Julie The rental market is indeed fast moving. You have to check each day with agents as to what has come on that day, inspect it and take it pretty much. The areas of Wello Point and Ormiston are established areas which there is not a lot of new builds on and rental property is snapped up. Thornlands however has a lot of new housing. Be patience when you are trying for a rental and you will find something. $700 a week - in real estate agents dreams! |

Re: Cleveland!!
We've been here nearly two years now and rentals were the same back then for availability when we arrived in Cleveland. It took us nearly a month to find a half reasonable 4 bed lowset. We were lucky that the rental came on the market literally that moment we walked into a real estate agents. We viewed it there and then and took it. Great at $270 a week.
I have to say now though that even in the two years that we have been here, even I'm aghast at the amount of development that is being actively pushed by the Redlands council and wonder what this little area will look like two, three, four years down the line. They're talking about another 50000 people!!!!. It'll end up like another concrete jungle, instead of the delightful place that it is. Much that the council care! More people crammed in means more rates! Maybe time to look elsewhere? |

Cleveland is pretty unique in SEQ given the overall standard of housing, streetscapes and level of services, water, etc. Swap a Bay for surf beaches and it would be a very very different place  The Gold Coast would just be a poor relation. My hero is Gov Gipps who got stuck in the mud of Raby Bay and decided on the spot that Brisbane was a better place for the new Colony. Thanx mate. Glad they found you some space in Canterbury Cathedral in appreciation. WW |

Think you got in at a good time, we arrived on the 23rd September, started looking that weekend and viewed 2 houses in Seabreezes (both £570pw), by the time we went back on Monday lunch time they had both gone, this was a lesson learnt early on, 4 weeks later after daily phone calls to agents we secured.. so we thought.. one for £520 with pool but no air con which fell through at the last minute... We were due to leave the apartment on the 7th November and our container had cleared customs so were desparate. Thronlands had new build with air con but no pool, one we viewed which did have pool and air con was on the market but vacant, owners were going to rent but we went straight to the office after the viewing to submit an application and the owner decided to give the house another month to sell before renting... we couldn't wait that long.. there was another one at that late stage available on Seabreezes, but the rent went up to $670pw the house was almost identical to the one we saw late September... I understand the owner has decided to sell not rent it now.. So... we widened our search to BRISBANE.... and found Bridgeman Downs, again we were lucky viewed 2 houses which weren't suitable, 20 minutes after saying bye to the agent she rang to say that another house which was on the market but not selling had come up for rental, we were cautious but got straight in the car to view it, loved it and moved in last Friday... AND it is a more realistic rent of $520pw.. Came to the conclusion we just weren't meant to be Bayside!!! Still going to meet the girls for lunch though!!! :D You are right you need to persevere we had to make a compromise, for us it ended up being location!! (Have to add....we are falling in love with this are now. :o .) Julie |
