Re: cleaning a dyson
We brought our old DC 01 with us and I've not used it yet. Mostly because we rented a small bagless LG vacuum cleaner whilst waiting for the container and have got it for a minimum three rental period.
But, the LG is heaps better at picking up anything larger than a dust particle (the Dyson just can't deal with grit) is great on hard surfaced floors and has a 1200w motor. The Dyson meanwhile is gathering dust in the garage |

I would say don't even bring the Dyson at all. In the UK I was a Dyson lover, had 3 before I came out. I don't know whether it was just mine but it kept cutting out because it was overheating, it is rubbish on tiled and wood flooring and basically after only using it for about 10 months I bought a different hoover more suitable for tiling and wood.
The vacuum cutting out is the thermal cut out as your vacuum was over heating. Usually caused by a blocked filter, a blockage in your vacuum or if you've used it for any building dust. Not that hearing this is much use to you now if you've got rid :D |

(what are "air watts") |

LMAO
Who would have thought that a tread about cleaning a hoover would attract so much attention lol:rofl::rofl: |
Re: cleaning a dyson
I've just read this thread and I may be being stupid - but please tell me - I can bring my Dyson with me? can't I? - why would I need to wash the filters??

Paddyhaha it just needs to be clean. Take out the filters and pack them with something else if you can't wash them. |

Re: cleaning a dyson
We took our Dyson Animal with us and just cleaned it as much as we could reach and what looked sensible - no probs. But similar to others we hardly use it now as no carpets. You should be able to get spares easily if you are living anywhere near a major city. If too expensive, order from the UK as postage usually is not bad unless it is a weighty item.

Re: cleaning a dyson
We brought our Dyson with us (DC04, for completeness). All we did was empty it and give it a general clean so that it didn't look dirty. It got through Customs OK, but other stuff didn't.
