Cleaners???
Hi
Wondering how many of you have cleaners doing a weekly clean at home, and how much you pay them per hour? or per time?
And where are you located?
thanks

Re: Cleaners???
I have a fortnightly cleaner here in Sydney. Her official rate is $23 an hour but I pay her a flat $70 each visit which varies from 2.5 - 3 hours depending on what needs doing.

Our cleaner, a Pom backpacker, has just left to travel round Australia. We paid her $50 cash for about 2.5 hours every fortnight.

Re: Cleaners???
Don't have one myself (unfortunately) but friends do and pay $17/hour in Perth. Apparently good cleaners are rare here.

Re: Cleaners???
My cleaner is here most days, doesn't get paid a penny (cent!); she starts early & finishes late. She not only cleans, she does pretty much everything else around the home & also goes out to work part time. I am of course talking about myself...!!!

Re: Cleaners???
There are agencies who will vet cleaners for you, check references etc. You can enter your postcode and they give you a rate.
Almost certainly cheaper to get someone local directly, but preferably with word of mouth recommendation - I still struggle to deal with the idea of giving a total stranger a key to my home. On the other hand, I am absolutely comfortable with someone else doing all the house work!! If only I could convince OH.....

Re: Cleaners???
We made a deal at our house. If I go to work more than 30 hours per week then we get a cleaner in twice weekly for a couple of hours to do the stuff we won't have time for like washing floors, cleaning toilets, etc. That way we are not spending all weekend cleaning when it's the only time we get to see each other. I've only been working full time for 3 weeks, so haven't hired one yet.

Re: Cleaners???
I worked part time for a while and did the housework during the week when the OH was at work and kids in school, but now I'm working full time so can't.

Re: Cleaners???
We have just hired one in Eltham (Melbourne) area. She starts tomorrow and has advised the first clean will be $100 and therefter $50 a week. She will apparently do a minimum of 2hrs each visit other than the first where she will obviously do 4.
Not sure whether that is going to be sufficient enough but will have to see I suppose.
