Does anybody know of a good cleaner who is reliable and does a good job in the Eltham North area (Melbourne). We have had a few and to be honest they have been absolutely shocking. At times I have questioned whether they have been in at all!

It surprises me that more migrants/stay at home mums/folk looking for extra cash/folk looking for a business opportunity aren't trying this. As far as I can tell the demand is huge and the supply very low.

In the UK any many 'good' cleaners set up their own companies doing end of tenancy cleans and charging anything upwards of £120 for a 1 bed flat which may involve only 5hrs work). This is where the money is and alot of cleaners are now reluctant to do regular cleaning gigs as they make much less. Dont know if it's the same in Aus?

I'm one of those few strange people that love ironing. Only problem is I'm still stuck in UK and when I do finally arrive I'll be in Gold Coast area - sorry x

I am still in the UK, but had a cleaner who I treated like one of the family, she was brilliant to start with and after a while I wondered what she'd done. She always had the knack of looking busy. She moaned of period pains every2 weeks and in between times had a migrane.
My wife used to tell her to go on home and she would wash the floors etc, just cos she couldn't listen to her moan any more. It was getting to the stage that the standard of work was slipping and my wife had to take the 4 kids away in the car to avoid any hassles with her. She created a real atmosphere in the house.
Then I decided to have a chat with her and asked her what was wrong and she said she hadn't wanted to work here for a while as the work load was too much and she was getting old. She got £6.50 per hour, plus claimed all the benefits going and even got a disability car. She had more money each week that I had, she even had a free house!
Anyway, she left and my wife was pleased she didn't have to face her moaning for 2 days a week, but annoyed that she had this shack to clean. Anyway, as I own my own business which also needs cleaned once a week, we were recommended this Lithuanian cleaner, whose mum worked for a friend of ours.
The result, my business has never been cleaner, I think of how lazy that other sod was and it makes me angry.
Kritina is a well presented girl who has a full time job in a factory not far from us and cleans the business at the weekend. I only wish she could clean the house as well, but it wouldn't be viable with 4 kids running ragged at the weekend when she would be here.
Maybe when I get to Oz I should open up a cleaning business. One has just opened in our home town run by an agency and they charge £9 per hour!!!! People go to university for years and don't earn that amount. One of my friends used them and said they were useless.
Anyway, good luck with finding someone,
