Default City & Guilds Carpenter/Plumber

Can anyone advise on the job situation in/around Perth for a qualified C&G Carpenter. Hubby also has C&G Plumbing & Heating. We haven't had to go through the skilled migration route as Hubby born in Oz in 1965 but family returned to the UK in 1968. He has Oz Citizenship by birth right and our daughter has Citizenship by descent. I have to apply through the Parnership migration route - bah humbug! We will hopefully be emigrating next year. Any info on these type of jobs welcomed.

The licencing criteria dictates that your hubby will need to choose one or the other as part of the requirements are that you need to have worked at the job full time for a certain period. This makes it almost impossible to hold 2 vastly different licences, however you can hold 2 closely related licences ie tiling and waterproofing or plastering and waterproofing. If your found to have lied on the application then your not allowed to hold a licence at all. The winter edition of the "Building Links" which is the magazine of the building services authority highlighted a case in which a fraudulent applicant has been listed as "Persons Not fit and Proper To Hold A Licence" after he attempted to forge some details.

Hi, thanks for that. OK, he will take the Carpentry Route. Are there many jobs advertised in this field regularly? How does he get his carpentry licence? Can he apply for this whilst in Crete or the UK or does he need to apply when we get there?

Don't know about Perth but here in QLD you have to show your passport with valid PR stickers to cross the first hurdle of getting your overseas trades assessed. I did quite a few posts on the subject try searching for licence issues on the forum.
