Smile Citizenship Ceremony - Dress Code?

Hi all,

Citizenship ceremony is on Friday (woohoo!) in Brisbane City Hall, I was just wondering what people have worn to previous ceremonies?

Obviously, people who have national dress wear their finery - what did you wear? Were other people dressed smartly, casually, face-paint, football jerseys?

I have a varied wardrobe - but wanted to wear something 'Aussie' if possible - but will stick a skirt on if I have to!

I will also call the council but their not answering the phone this morning!

Cheers!

Whatever you're most comfortable in. They are really not bothered. If you wanted to go in budgie smugglers and thongs with a flag around your shoulders they'd just smile and welcome you. If you want to go in evening dress same would apply.

I wore jeans and a jumper (it was winter) but there was all sorts there, including a couple of indian (I think) ladies in the most beautiful saris and Aussie flag thongs

Most people were wearing pretty normal 'smart-casual' clothes, jeans + shirt etc. Some came as if they were off to the beach for the day in their Australia branded tourist gear! Whereas some of the other people taking the pledge, most noteably the ones from African countries seemed to get dressed up a bit smarter.

There really isn't a dress code. I'm not sure about your ceremony as it may be smaller but during the biggie on Aus Day you never actually leave your seat so you're not the focus of attention at any point so it doesn't really matter.

The Ozzi dress code is a funny thing, i went to an Anzac day service dressed in my best suit, and felt very outof place when i got there, everyone else was wearing board shorts and thongs!

Thanks for the answers! I will wear my aussie gear with pride in that case.
